Integrative Counseling
Integrative Counseling is a State of Maryland Certified Substance Treatment Facility offering a broad range of educational and treatment services for adults and teens in a safe non-judgmental environment. While Integrative Counseling discusses the effects of substances on a teens' life, we also address other areas usually suffering as a result of the use or causing the use. These issues might include family problems, communication or peer problems, school or learning difficulties, or legal concerns. Most adolescents who abuse substances have stopped maturing and may be making decisions at a 10- or 12-year-old level. We offer five levels of education or treatment for kids and teens using or abusing substances. We place kids in groups with other kids having similar difficulties. Teens may attend group or individual counseling or both. Integrative Counseling offers individual and group counseling for teens who have been experimenting with substances. These teens may have been caught by their parents, by their school, or may have received a citation from the police. Often, these teens have other areas of concern including family problems, school problems or declining grades, inappropriate peers or a change in friends, depression or other mental health concerns, or more. Integrative Counseling is careful to assess all of these areas and help you address them all at once. Integrative Counseling offers group, individual, and family treatment for Substance Abuse. Journey to Self Understanding Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment
Journey to Self Understanding Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment: Our specialty is working with clients to help them tell their story, move forward, and gain insight. Services include: Counseling for women and men, Substance abuse counseling, Career counseling, Group counseling and Workshops for women. In addition to working with clients, we currently use techniques specific to women (and unique to the client) when we work with them individually and in groups to help them meet their counseling and recovery goals. When working with women with substance abuse issues our treatment plans and services cover body image, post partum depression, child care, parenting, transportation, employment, codependency, physical abuse, victimization, and other issues related to the individual client. We use cognitive behavioral theory (CBT) and gestalt techniques in individual therapy sessions to give the clients an opportunity to discuss problems in the “here and now” to help them gain insight into what they need to work on to move to (and stay in) recovery and meet their recovery and life goals. In our work with clients, we use a holistic counseling approach where we look at the whole person and develop interventions to help clients gain insight through music, poetry, journaling, exercise, meditation and different counseling interventions. In addition to working with women and men, we also work adolescents. For more information please contact Journey to Self Understanding.

Seafarers Addiction Rehabilitation Center
Seafarers Addiction Rehabilitation Center is a private, non-profit residential treatment facility operated by the Seafarers Health and Benefits Plan as a proactive response to the problem of chemical dependency in the maritime industry. In operation since 1975, the program is designed to address alcohol and other drug issues relevant to the United States Merchant Mariner. The staff at the SARC understands chemical dependency to be a primary illness in itself, thereby compounding and contributing to problems in all life areas. SARC rehabilitation efforts are guided by the philosophy that is the foundation of all SIU efforts on behalf of the membership: “the development of the worker as a whole person, not just the person as a worker.” A seafarer may volunteer to attend the rehabilitation program or may be referred to treatment for job-related incidents involving alcohol and other drugs. These referrals may be made by the union, contracted companies, or the United States Coast Guard. For more information please contact Seafarers Addiction Rehabilitation Center.

Westminster Rescue Mission
Westminster Rescue Mission: Men who enter our Recovery program work through a structure of classes, training, work assignments, meetings and Christian program which is typically completed in 6-9 months. Upon graduation from that program, clients are eligible to pursue employment in the community. They are encouraged to continue to participate in the life of the Rescue Mission, where they can set aside savings, continue to build support inside and outside of the Mission, and get the help they need to overcome any remaining obstacles to living sober, independent lives in the community. Throughout their experience at the Mission, the men are encouraged to participate in a local church, attend AA / NA / CR meetings, and keep focus on the vision for their future that God has purposed for them. Christian Curriculum – Each client works through a faith-based curriculum with the help of staff who encourage, nurture and teach the ways of God. We are committed to the understanding that our deepest need is a relationship with Jesus Christ. The curriculum is enhanced by Daily Devotions, Small Group Ministry and Evening worship. On-site Clinical Counseling - Men in our program may participate in individual or group counseling sessions with graduate students from Loyola University. Group classes focus on anger management and other topics that are fundamental to recovery. Work Therapy – The life of the Mission is characterized by the clients working together to maintain the facility and participate directly in serving others through the Mission’s community assistance ministries. Each client is assigned to a Work Station on the campus or at our thrift stores, where they receive instruction in areas such as operating equipment, serving the public, or grounds maintenance. We value the structure and discipline that work requires, and we encourage teamwork to accomplish the many and varied tasks necessary to operate the Mission. Building Relationships – Each client has a Team Leader and other staff to walk with him through the recovery process and to pour love, encouragement, guidance and support into his efforts to rebuild his life, restore relationships, and move forward in sobriety and holy living. In addition to these vital coaching relationships, the clients develop close bonds of brotherhood with one another, which provides a level of support that often carries on in the community, once the men have graduated from the program.
