Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery
The Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery (IIAR) has been providing quality, hospital-based addiction treatment services in central Illinois since 1979. Inpatient / Residential and outpatient counseling and treatment services are available for adults and adolescents with chemical and / or behavioral addictions, as well as those individuals struggling with related at-risk behaviors. The goal of our medical and counseling services is to help individuals and family with addiction lead comfortable and productive lives without the use of mood-altering chemicals or activities. Opiates are powerful drugs derived from the poppy plant that have been used for centuries to relieve pain. Also known as narcotics, opiates can be natural or synthetic. The natural opiates include opium, morphine, and codeine. Other substances, called opioids, are man-made. These substances are like opiates in that they are most often used to treat chronic or severe pain and are also highly addictive. These substances include Dilaudid, Demerol, Oxycodone, Vicodin, Fentanyl, Methadone, and Darvon. Heroin is an opioid manufactured from morphine. Heroin has no medicinal uses; it is used for its ability to give the user a feeling of euphoria. How can someone get help? The first step is to determine if there is a problem. A Certified Addictions Counselor can effectively perform an assessment to determine what level of care is most appropriate. For a free confidential assessment, call the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery at (800) 522-3784. An assessment can be completed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are always welcome. For more information please contact The Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery.

Montgomery County Health Department Substance Abuse Services
Montgomery County Health Department Substance Abuse Services: MCHD has an established substance abuse program open to all county residents in need of substance abuse treatment. We offer a variety of services including Outpatient Counseling, Psychiatric Services, Intervention, and DUI Services. Funding for this program is provided in part by DHS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. The Outpatient Counseling program typically consists of a minimum of three months or 30 hours, of counseling unless otherwise specified (as in DUI cases). Outpatient counseling consists of individual sessions for 1 hour every 2 – 4 weeks and group counseling once a week for 2 hours. These sessions are used to focus on the individual’s problems usually stemming from their substance abuse and examine ways to change their attitudes and behaviors. We concentrate on various issues such as denial, self-esteem, family, relationships, coping skills, addiction, values, consequences, and relapse prevention. However, we encourage our participants to present their own topics or concerns for discussion. Both the groups and the individual counseling are provided by Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors. For more information please contact Montgomery County Health Department Substance Abuse Services.
