There's nothing more special than finding people who want to change and become better people:

It’s great to find people who want to quit drugs, heroin, coke, crack, meth, etc, but there's nothing more special than finding people who want to change and become better people – kind, loving, honest people. Because believe it or not people can change – we can change.

And as long as we’re trying to do the right thing in every area of our lives then things can begin to get better. Our whole lives can begin to change. We may have to reap a little from our past, but eventually, things can begin to change. Sometimes, it just takes time. And sometimes, things can begin to change rather quickly. Hang in there, have patience and keep moving forward one day at a time. We can do it.
Even if you lose it all, don't let anything stop you from quitting these drugs and turning your life around. No matter how long you've been using, 10, 20, 30 years, you can still beat these drugs and get your life back. Get your health back. It's never too late to change and turn your life around. Recovery is possible for all of us. Don’t give up. Keep on trying. You can do it.

Those least likely to change are the ones who will:

Sometimes, those who we feel are least likely to change are the ones who will. A person can be a liar, a cheater and a thief today and become a saint and one who stands for justice in the future. People can change. It’s great to see people quit drugs and have a better life, that’s great, that’s wonderful, but I’m always on the lookout for good hearted people, people who want to change and become better people. And believe it or not, a lot of good hearted people feel that they are not good enough.
When you find a person who looks down on themselves and feels insecure about themselves, a person who thinks lowly of themselves and has low self-esteem, when you find a person like that then there’s a good chance that you have found a special person.

You’ve found a humble person. Even a selfish person today can become the most generous person someday. I’ll be the first to admit I’m nothing special at all, I don’t deserve anything good at all.

I’ve done so much wrong in my life... I know this. But Life has shown me mercy. And it sure is nice to find special people, the black sheep, the outcasts, the underdogs, the ones that nobody else cares for, the ones who don’t think so highly of themselves. In my eyes, those are special people. Those are people who can change and become better people. Those are the kind of people I want to be around. So when you see a person who is least likely to change, just remember those are the ones who eventually can.

Appreciative people are special people:

Normally I wouldn't post stuff like this in fear that someone might think that I was trying to lift myself up or make myself appear to be something special although I know very well that I'm not. But I'm posting this for 2 reasons - to show that 1. People can change. And 2. The gratitude and appreciation that this man has shown to me is amazing, and I believe that this is a huge part of the reason why he was able to change and turn his life around - because he is a grateful and appreciative person. And when I see stuff like this I don't lift my head up and become proud - instead I become excited and grateful because I found a grateful and appreciative person, and an appreciative person is something special.

I can't really put it into words, but there's something very special about appreciative people. They're just special people - good, kind hearted people, and sooner or later will have a new and better life. It may take some time but eventually, they will have a better life. People can change. Life can get better. Gratitude and appreciation is the key:

"Hey Jorge. I don't know you at all. And will never meet you. But I feel like you are part of my family. I can honestly tell you you have completely changed my life around. I have gone from lying cheating thieving will sell my own gran for a bag of brown. To now being clean and living and living my life again!!! And it's all because of your absolutely excellent get clean website. I literally owe you my life. I did it all by my self. I just kept on reading and reading your advice and followed it to the letter. I owe you my life. I have my life back. I feel normal again in the mornings and I have money to spend on things other than drug's. And it feels great. You are my saviour. I can not thank you enough for the advice and words on your site. Thank you my friend." MD (male)

People can change, addicts can change:

Haven’t touched heroin in over 20 years, and clean from coke, crack, weed, ecstasy, benzos, alcohol and cigs since March 1st 2009. And if there’s one thing I learned in life is that people can change. Addicts can change. 20 years ago I used to shoot dope and steal cars for a living to support my habit. Today, I won't lie, cheat or steal no matter what, even if I'm starving and dying of thirst. No matter what we’ve done in the past, we can change. If we really want it, then we can do it.

So the next time you look in the mirror or see an addict on the street, please remember, you can change, they can change. We can change. Never go by what a person has done in the past, or what they do now. They can change. It’s what’s in your heart that matters the most. And if a person like me can change, then believe me, you can change too. Your loved ones can change too. People can change. It’s important to quit drugs, but it’s also important to become a better person – a kind, loving, honest person. Wish nothing but the best for every single one of you.

Sincerely,
