STOP Program
STOP Program is a group of mental health and chemical dependency treatment providers who function as a comprehensive treatment team to deliver services in an outpatient setting. Our team includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, registered nurses, substance abuse counselors and case managers. The Substance Treatment Outpatient Programs (S.T.O.P.) offers a variety of programs and services to address the issues of substance abuse and addictive disorders. Services range from educational programs to inpatient detoxification. Specialized tracts are available for adolescents and dual diagnosis clients. While providing psychiatric and substance abuse services in Wichita, Dr. Ralph Bharati recognized a need for quality, medically supervised, outpatient substance abuse programming. In response to this gap in the continuum of services, Dr. Bharati has initiated S.T.O.P. as a component of his practice. The core philosophy of the program is based on the disease concept of chemical dependency and offers a multi-disciplinary, medical model treatment approach towards addictive disorders. We view mental illness and substance abuse as diseases that affect our patients in a variety of ways; therefore, our treatment not only focuses on the biological aspects of intervention, but includes attention to the patients' social and psychological attributes. The team model allows our patients to work with a provider that has an expertise in the area that meets the patient's unique needs - providing more innovative interventions and treatment, while maintaining the patient in an outpatient level of care. An outpatient setting reduces the patient's need for higher levels of care that are disruptive to the patient, his / her family, employment and community.
